Melbourne was founded in 1835 by John Batman, who purchased around 600,000 acres from the Australian aborigine tribe Wurundjeri. Prior to being named Melbourne on April 10th 1837, the area was known briefly as Batmania. On June 25th, 1847, Queen Victoria, after whom the Australian state of Victoria was named, officially made Melbourne a city. A significant event in the city’s history was the mid-1851 Victorian gold rush, which resulted in Melbourne overtaking Sydney in terms of population. Other major events included boosterism‘s role in the  Australian banking crisis of 1893, and the opening of Australia’s first Parliament on January 1, 1901. Following World War II, the city experienced high and low points for several decades, eventually settling into Alpha city status, which occurred in 2018.

The capital and most populous city in the Australian state of Victoria, Melbourne today has a population of about 5 million people. Regarded as one of the most livable cities in the world, Melbourne attracts around 11.6 million tourists per year. Located on Port Phillip Bay, the Garden City sits about 300 miles across the Bass Straight from the Australian island state of Tasmania. Royal Exhibition Building, which became Australia’s first building to be awarded UNESCO’s World Heritage status, Melbourne Cricket Ground and Shrine of Remembrance are some of Australia’s most renowned cultural sites. Melbourne enjoys warm to hot summers and mild winters, with summer highs averaging in the high 70s degrees Fahrenheit, while winters remain in the high 50s. The city ranks in the top five safest in the world. Australia’s cultural center, Melbourne attracts visitors with its festivals, theaters, music venues, museums, architecture and street art. 1. Hello, I simply love your website, all the penthouses look absolutely amazing. For Melbourne, I would choose the first one – on the Southbank as it looks stunning! I really would like to have a flat one time, which looks this way (or similar way as I am modest..:). It is also very close to all important places so there is not much to decide.

Thank you for your great post and I wish you all the best!

    Bye Renata

  2. I do like travelling and Australia is one of my dream countries. I will travel to Australia someday. Thank you for your reviews of these amazing hotels in Melbourne, Australia. These are really amazing and cosy places to stay during a vacation with so many amenities. When I will have enough money to travel to Australia, I will definitely consider one of these places. Thanks again for the review.

  3. I really liked Sub Penthouse and it is good that it offers free wifi as I have an online business and need to be online all the time. It takes so much time and I searched the bar near it and it looks also cool however I wonder does near places offer gluten free foods?

  4. I love all of the options you have for hotels. Australia is such a beautiful place, and you have showcased so many of the great benefits to it. I can’t wait to find out what other locations you will have next and what offers you show for these locations. Austrailia looks like an awesome place to visit and even live.

  5. I use to have a business partner in Adelaide Australia and he would send me pictures all the time of places like Sydney and Melbourne as well as his stunning home town. I want to visit all 3 in style in my lifetime and I love that first listing in your post 33 City Road, Southbank. I love the infinity pool out the balcony and the angular
dining to the living area in the corner. I could work and play here all day long.

  6. What a great place to travel to (except for the terrifying wildlife)! I’m saving this article so that when I go traveling next summer I can consider where to stay in Australia.

Such wonderful views! The view from the Mona Lisa Milano penthouse is particularly fun to stare out at, I imagine.

So, yes, I would choose the Mona Lisa for my imaginary vacation. Unfortunately, I doubt I’ll have the funds – but thank you for letting me know of these penthouses, anyway!

    1. Brady thank you for the comments and for saving the post. Which wildlife? Lol. Mona Lisa is a great choice and please stay tuned for pricing because it may be more affordable than you think.

  7. This is an lovely pictures of penthouse I so much admire.  Melbourne is an amazing place to explore when looking for tourism and research in Australia. My project supervisor in school happened to do his PhD project research in the university hospital around Melbourne. I can still remember he lodge at Flinders Luxury Penthouse together with his teammates. Every gist he told us about this penthouse was close to what I met here. I wish to visit Australia very soon for thesame research but I don’t know the exact location yet. This review would be of help  to provide guidelines when am ready to book for my journey.

    1. Thank you for the comments Stella! Very glad that you enjoyed the pictures and thank you for sharing this story about Flinders. It’s truly a top-notch penthouse rental option.

  8. That’s a very nice good selection of penthouses on your website. I hope one day when I’m in Australia I can stay in one of them. Melbourne seems one of the most interesting cities of Australia.

When would be the best time to come to Melbourne? I mean, where it isn’t too hot, not too cold. I heard that sometimes can get a little chilly in Australia, but not sure if in Melbourne too.

    1. Hi Sandy. Average highs peak at around 80 degrees Fahrenheit between January and February, while average lows bottom out at around the mid-40s in July. Keep in mind that Melbourne, being in the southern hemisphere, has opposite summer and winter times than with the northern hemisphere. Thank you for the comments and happy travels!

  9. There are three things I usually consider when traveling. As I usually travel alone, I would have to rule out anything with three bedrooms. Usually, I would look for one-bedroom. In this case, I would have to opt for a 2-bedroom which narrows it down to four choices. I also like to have a view and of the four, it would be either StayCentral or Mona Lisa. Most of all, I prefer to always stay where there is a fully equipped kitchen. Finders has an amazing view, but no fully-equipped kitchen is mentioned. I would let the price determine if I would choose StayCentral or Mona Lisa.

  10. Hi, There.
I think you have chosen the best penthouses in Melbourne, Australia.
Your review on the is excellent with a stunning view of the luxury they offer.
Essendon Sub Penthouse at 1050, Mount Alexander Road seems just like Titanic. I would love to have a pic with my wife someday on its dock.
    Thanks for the awesome review.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

  11. Wow!!

This is amazing. You have shown amazing pictures of different hotel in melbourn. Austrlia itself is a very beautiful place. Travelling there is like a dream. Interior of the William Street Penthouse is so nice. Also the Mona Lisa Milano Penthouse. But the outer view of the StayCentral Brunswick Penthouse is great. So I liked it most. It’s view just blown my mind. places are also nearby the hotel. How much the hotels cost per person and per day??

  12. Very nice website, I like the way you are writing and I would choose the 8 franklin street. I am looking forward to your next written articles. Anyway, all of the pictures are great, the hotels are looking a little bit expensive but with really nice views, I like it, so stay tuned and Keep it up :).

  13. My wife and I have been discussing our next big vacation and we narrowed it down to Italy and Australia. Thanks for this review of the best accommodations that Melbourne has to offer. It was very helpful in comparing prices and determining what our options are. I am definitely bookmarking this article and will refer back to it if we ultimately decide to go to Australia. Thanks again!

  14. Australia is on my bucket list. Have not been yet but Melbourne looks to be a great destination! I can’t believe how inexpensive it is per person. Exclusive Stays Penthouse really intriguied me not just for the great amenities but also great places to visit that are walkable. Thanks for such an informative article. All the best!

    Bob

  15. Wow this is cool. I would really like to go to Australia because I like Australian accents! It would be so fun to be surrounded by people with Australian accents all the time. I can see why they say it is so livable. It sounds like a very nice place. It looks like a lot of them have fitness centers so I will have to inquire more into what type of gym equipment is in there. My favorite was probably 35 Union Street except I would never sit in that chair LOL! As always I really enjoy reading through your website and it inspires me to travel.

  16. The only thing good about COVID-19 is that you get some time to bowser the Internet.  Some would think that’s the bad thing – for me a good thing.   I firmly believe that this will eventually pass, that my wife and I will once again get to travel.   We are definitely in our retirement years plus and would like as much as the world as possible while we can.

We made a list of places we would like to see and near the very top is Melbourne Australia.  I was surprised that the summer highs were only in the 70s.   I’ve mistakenly thought that the summers would be much hotter.  Much appreciate your comprehensive review of the Hotels.   Even the RMIT University was very affordable and conveniently located to transportation in and out of the city.    What is the local transit system like and options for getting around?  While my spouse and I are healthy – we are beyond the age of taking long walks anywhere these days.

    1. Steve great points. Airfare is so cheap these days, and hopefully with gas prices much lower these trends will continue during safer times. It’s as good a time as any to start planning a future trip. Keep in mind that 70s is an average temperature. Melbourne’s weather can be volatile, and it is joked that all four seasons can be experienced in one day. The city’s record high temperature is 115 degrees Fahrenheit, while its record low is 27 degrees. Glad to see that you found these hotels in Melbourne Australia useful. Melbourne’s public transit system is the largest in the world, and you can find a link to it here. According to the website this is the easiest and best way to get around the city, which would be perfect for you and your wife. Thank you for the comments. Stay safe and happy travels out there!

  17. I really enjoyed reading the background and information on Melbourne, somewhere I would very much like to visit. It has a reputation as a beautiful City and is somewhere  would like to visit.   Cricket is a particular “draw” to the City.  Have you considered adding a link to this page so people can know when the matches are and where they can buy tickets? Corporate`s in particular might be interested in this, which might dovetail neatly with this page.  This is an excellent niche website focusing on “top end” hotel and penthouse rentals. You have described the different options in a highly professional way giving the reader some clear options and choices.

    1. Trevor thank you very much. Adding a feed for cricket matches sounds like a great idea. Hotels in Melbourne Australia compliment a city that is just as you have described, beautiful!

  18. Thanks for an informative and great article I’ve always dreamed to go to Australia and hopefully one day I will make that dream come true. These penthouses look absolutely stunning. Which one of these great looking penthouses would you recommend? Thanks again for a great article and I hope will be able to go to Australia soon.

    1. Lars you can’t go wrong with any of these hotels in Melbourne Australia and it really just depends on what you’re looking to do in regard to location, and how much you would like to spend on accommodations. As you may see, there is something for everyone. Thanks for the comments!

  19. Hello, nice presentation of Australia and then of the city of Melbourne. I like the variety of accommodation and the variety of prices. I have never been to Australia, I would love to visit this country. I take a tourist trip on your site. There is a huge choice of places to visit. 😁👍

    1. Georgi hopefully you get to visit one of these hotels in Melbourne Australia soon and thank you for the comments!

  20. Wow, these are amazing. I’m really hoping someday soon I can take a trip to the land down under. This will be an awesome honeymoon. I really hope this COVID 19 mess goes away at least by fall so that people can start back traveling. I would love to take my new wife where ever she is in the world to a place like that.

    1. Johnny first off congratulations to you and your spouse. Melbourne would be an incredible place to take a honeymoon. The only problem is, you might not want to leave!
