Hotels in Sydney

Hotels in Sydney provide unforgettable glimpses upon a destination nicknamed “The Harbour City”. Known for its iconic opera house, harbor, bridges, beaches, yachts, restaurants, museums, parks, historic buildings and shipwrecks, Sydney is the most traveled city in Oceania. From Sydney CBD’s chic city life to Bondi Beach’s renowned curling waves to Budderoo National Park’s breathtaking rainforest hiking trails and superb nearby beaches, Sydney has something for everyone. When traveling to Sydney, keep in mind that cars travel in the left lane, that tipping is not customary, that arguably the best form of public transportation is by ferry and that generally-speaking, Aussies tend to swear a lot. Sydney’s currency is the Australian Dollar and the legal drinking age is 18 years. Big events include Sydney Festival, Vivid Sydney, Sydney Film Festival, Australian Fashion Week, Royal Easter Show, Festival X Sydney, ULTRA Australia, Touch Bass Sydney Festival, Electric Gardens Festival, Return To Rio, Lost Paradise Festival, Sydney Folk Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival. Sydney’s professional football club is Sydney FC. Other popular sports are horse racing, cricket and rugby. Indeed, hotels in Sydney are some of the best in all of Oceania. Before we get to hotels in Sydney, let’s take a look at some more background information on the area to help you along the way.

Unearthed stone tools suggest that the Sydney area has been inhabited for 50,000 years, making it a prized archaeological site. The area’s first human inhabitants were indigenous Australians, who migrated from southeast Asia originally. Europeans, led by Lieutenant James Cook, made first contact with Australian natives circa April 29, 1770. The area’s first European settlement came by way of the First Fleet, which consisted of 11 ships carrying roughly 850 convicts into Botany Bay on January 18, 1788. Captain Phillip, finding the area near Botany Bay to be lacking in soil quality and freshwater, travelled a short distance north into Sydney Cove on January 26, 1788. Captain Phillip described the area that would become Sydney Harbour as being the finest harbor in the world. Sydney’s official proclamation and naming of the colony occurred on February 7, 1788.  Convict punishment was enforced through transportation rather than incarceration. No prison buildings were constructed. Instead, the majority of the 3,565 male and 766 female convicts were set to hard labor, tasked with helping to build the settlement. Overall hardships came by way of near starvation and low supplies. In 1789, a smallpox epidemic killed half of the native population. It wasn’t until the gold rush of 1851 that Sydney started to turn a corner, leading to the Alpha+ metropolis of the present.

The state capital of New South Wales, Sydney has a population of over 5.2 million people, making it the most populated city in Australia as well as Oceania. Situated on Australia’s east coast, Sydney is bordered by Hawkesbury to the north, the Royal National Park to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Blue Mountains to the west. Today, millions of tourists visit Sydney each year. Average high temperatures  range in the 70s degrees Fahrenheit for 3/4 of the year, making it a popular beach, festival and fashion destination. Major points of interest include Sydney Opera HouseStadium AustraliaSydney HarbourUniversity of SydneySydney TowerState TheatreAustralian MuseumMuseum of Contemporary ArtArt Gallery of New South WalesSea Life Sydney AquariumQueen Victoria Building and Anzac War Memorial.  Popular foods include Black Star Pastry‘s strawberry watermelon cake, fish and chips, meat pies and barbecued seafood, while red wine is the most consumed alcoholic beverage. Equipped with a little background information on the area, we’re ready for hotels in Sydney that would make Captain Phillip proud!

  1. The view from Bondl road is simply breathtaking, with a distant view of the beach plus even the surrounding scenery would make me want to sit on that deck all day and just view the beauty surrounding the place. And with a Golf Club and marina nearby, you simply can’t beat this location. It’s the perfect vacation housing out there in Sydney from what I’ve researched.

  2. Hello

Thanks for your researched work for this job. And for our information. In fact, the hotels are beautiful, so you do not know which one to choose. And it offers kind of services. I would choose Bondi Beach Penthouse for a trip. But you said they were Sydney hotels and this hotel was written in New York. What is it like?

    best regards

    Carmen

  3. Wow, the Meriton Suites in Carter Street certainly look impressive and I love that the have the indoor swimming pool, gym as well as WiFi. It also has easy access to the airport which is great. Having a Tennis World close by is also a major plus for me.

If I ever get to go to see Sydney these places would be a real treat to stay in, but I am sure they are very expensive  if a group of friends got together it would be a great idea to rent something like this as a group

  4. The 10/266 Bondi Beach Penthouse looks warm and homely, plus being near the beach is an experience on its own. To wake up with the sound of beach waves crashing, I would choose this over any fancy hotel. It would definitely feel like a real vacation away from the busy city life. How far is the liqueur store from the penthouse though?

  5. These sure are some great penthouses if only I had more money I could stay in some of these flash places.

The beauty of penthouses are they are always at the top of the hotel, resort etc and the views are generally amazing!

These particular penthouses are in Australia and I’m sure they range in the $500 dollar mark which is crazy for a one night stay.

I have stayed in a few penthouses over the years and they sure do make you feel like a celebrity or a millionaire for a few days.

Thanks for sharing these amazing places in Sydney, I will have to visit. Cheers.

  6. This is such a great post! We’re planning on hopefully moving to Aus to work eventually, so this list will come in handy for sure. You’ve written in such great detail and your photos are amazing – you’re making me want to go there right now waaahh

95 Liverpool Street definitely looks perfect for what we would want too – a perfect place to relax but also work on our laptops!

    1. Kelly thank you so much for the kind comments! Meriton Suites World Tower at 95 Liverpool Street has some fantastic penthouse and suite options and so glad you found them to your liking, happy travels and best luck with your move 🙂

  7. Thank you for listing the best penthouse rentals in Sydney. I will going there around the beginning of the next year, so I can prepare to book them in advance. I’m considering between Bay Street and Merlton Suites. Bay Street has nicer view (for me), but around Merlton there are many Asian restaurants, and I love to eat there. I will tell my colleagues before choosing. Thanks.

  8. Awesome post. All pictures look so great. Sydney has always been the top tourist spot of any traveler. Pitts road is among my best among this list of best spots.

I’ve already been following your website over a period of month by now. And, I’ve noted some wonderful spots in my journal, now I’m glad to add Sydney along with those.

Thanks a lot for sharing this amazing post. Surely, I look forward to more of such. 👍

  9. All the penthouse you recommend looks classy and elegant with its modern interiors. Renting one for a vacation will be cost efficient if shared with friends or family members. The experience is like home away from home since tourists can also cook or even make delicious cocktails for themselves. It sure looks like a unique experience than booking for anhotel with so much restrictions. Thanks for showing all these beautiful penthouse. I like Meriton suites both in Kent and Pitt street. Have a nice day to you!

  10. Beautiful penthouses! All of them have a very incredible view.

I think this is the best way to admire Sydney’s architecture.

But Sydney is also one of the most expensive cities in the world, I wonder how much it will cost for a night?  Do they offer any special packages for  the weekend?

    Thanks

    1. Thank you very much Adyns! This is a great way to admire Sydney’s architecture for sure. Please stay tuned for pricing.

  11. Great post! I love reading about places to stay in other countries. Meriton Suites World Tower, look at that view! Wow! If I had my choice I would stay at the Meriton Suites Pitt Street or Bondi Beach Penthouse. I like the classy look of Meriton and I like how Bondi is close to the beach. Keep them coming!

    Brian

    1. Thank you Brian! Glad you found two to your liking in Meriton Suites Pitt Street or Bondi Beach Penthouse.

  12. Hi Admin,

I found your post so interesting. I wanted to go Sydney Australia with my husband in our summer vacation. But we were facing very much problems for took decision that where wii we can stay. But now your post help me a lot and able to remove my confusion. You attached very clear information about the penthouses of Sydney Australia. I like most Bondi Beach Penthouse. Because it situated at the side of the beach. Can I advance book it?

Thanks a lot dear. I will share your informative and helpful post to others.

    1. Snigdha thank you for the comments 🙂 You can book in advance if you’d like. This will keep the cost as low as possible. Nice to see you again!

  13. Awesome penthouses! All the pictures look so great. Sydney has always been the top tourist spot of any traveler. All of them have a very incredible view. I think this is the best way to admire Sydney’s architecture. It sure looks like a unique experience than booking for a hotel with so many restrictions. But Sydney is also one of the most expensive cities in the world, I wonder how much it will cost for a night?

I like Meriton suites both in Kent and Pitt street. Have a nice day to you!

  14. Hi,

    Thanks for sharing these findings!

Number one Carter Street sounds like it may be ideal for what I’m looking for. There are three of us travelling over to Sydney next year for a mates wedding/ lads reunion. I’m massively in to the gym and swimming and will need to be able to do some work while there so accessible WIFI is highly important. It sounds like it is smack in the middle of everything as well, which is ideal as none of us have visited Sydney before. I like the fact it has room service/ concierge, it will come in handy as it’s all of our first times, I’ll be sending this over to the others for them to check this out.

    1. Hi Nate and thank you for stopping by! These hotels will have top-notch WiFi accommodations, so you shouldn’t have to worry about that.

  15. Wow!  These places are seriously beautiful!

I think I’d like a room in the one you show on your first post — the Meriton Suites Carter Street one.  The view looks stupendous.

I looked for prices, and found only the ones on your other article on penthouses by city.  Are these comparable in price?  It is reasonable if a small group of adults travel together and split the rent, and what a gorgeous place to stay!

I have friends who like to book such places.  We did a trip together to the Southwestern United States, and stayed in penthouses.  Perhaps they would like to go to Australia.  Now, that would be really fun!

(You can delete this remark; just wanted to tell you.  In your titles, you use an “l” instead of an “i” in Meriton and Suites.  Thought you might want to change those.)

Thanks for your careful research and a wonderful look at Australian penthouses.  I am impressed!

  16. Thanks for sharing the best hotels in “Sidney Australia”, and nice views which get me excited to visit someday. I’ve always wanted to visit Australia and this gives me an update that Sidney has the best hotels. I love the awesome amenities.

How many miles is Sidney Australia from the United States? How long would it take to get there by air?

    1. Hi Letha. Flight from USA to Australia will take you about 19 hours, so a longer stay with a larger group of people might be advisable if you have the time. Great questions and thanks for stopping by!

  17. Previously I commented on your Melbourne post.   As I shared in that post – my wife and I are in our seventies plus period of our lives.   While COVID-19 has put a halt on overseas travel, we feel that this will eventually pass.   Now is the time to plan for future trips.   Really like what you wrote about Melbourne and Sydney sounds also great.   Not sure about the beaches, the historic Sydney Opera House would be a must for a trip that we are planning, in addition to the Art Galleries and Sea Life Aquarium.    What really jumps out is how the Hotel room pricing really varies, from very expensive to very reasonable.   We would at least plan to stay and tour for a couple of days.    What is the availability of public transportation to get around?

  18. I didn’t know how many tourists visit Sydney each year. But researching a bit about it has really surprised me. Do you know how many tourists visited Sydney in 2019 (before COVID-19)? A total of 16.1 million tourists visited Sydney from July 2018 to June 2019. This total encompassed 4.1 million international visitors and 12 million domestic overnight tourists.

  19. Wow! went through this article several times , hoping that I will be able to choose one but its a hard choice to make. All I know that the beautiful breathtaking pictures made it very clear that I am due for a holiday. I might not be able to come Austrilia now but whenever I find myself there , I will be having a clue of what to look out for. Thank you
