Hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico are both abundant and charming. Nicknamed P.V. or PVR, Puerto Vallarta is a great place to find beaches, water sports, marine life, restaurants and nightlife. Natural beauty coupled with man-made sculptures and artwork help make this resort town appealing to the eye. Additionally, the area is one of the safer destinations to visit in the country, and offers a more laid back, relaxing experience. Surrounded by jungles, teal waters and lively entertainment, you are almost guaranteed to have an outstanding time when staying at any of the hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico found below. Whether you are traveling in a small or large group, the accommodations found here will do well to suit your needs. Before we get to hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, let’s take a look at some background information on the area to help you along the way.
Puerto Vallarta has a population of around 225,00 people. Interestingly enough, not much is known about this port city prior to the 19th century, though evidence suggests that the area has been inhabited since 580 BC. In 1524, Hernán Cortés, a Spanish conquistador, took control over much of the Ameca valley, naming it Banderas after the colorful standards carried by the natives. Thereafter, it became a point of Spanish trade between the Philippines and Mexico, resulting in pirate activity. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the valley served as a supply point of contact for ships seeking refuge, and a place where smuggled goods could be sent on to the Sierra towns. In 1918, the village was elevated to municipality status.
Today, Puerto Vallarta benefits from significant tourism, due largely to its direct flights between itself and cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix and Chicago. Average highs are consistent throughout the year, fluctuating between 85 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with October culminating the high season. Popular points of interest include Cruise Ship Pier, Aquaventures Park, Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Malecón, Plaza de Armas and Vallarta Botanical Gardens, which hosts Day of the Dead and Las Posadas celebrations. Popular food items include exotic fruits, tacos, enchilladas, seafood and more, while drinks range from mango margaritas to ice cold beers. Be sure to keep an eye out for happy hour specials, where you might find drinks for as low as $1. Now that we have a little knowledge of the area, it’s time for hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico that are truly sights to behold.

As you can see, hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico are some of the finest in the country. We hope you have found your perfect Puerto Vallarta accommodation and most importantly, that you enjoy your time in Mexico!
Thank you so much for this nice post and input, I have seen a lot of post online talking about the beautiful places in Mexico but yours is in depth and well detailed. I never knew there a lot of luxurious places in Puerto Vallarta as you have mentioned. I think my own favorite is the Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio because of it amazing features ,I cant wait to visit there for my next vacation.
Charles thank you for the post and glad to hear that you found a hotel to your liking in Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio!
Thank you for your post. It is a timely article for me. My wife and I are discussing vacation for next year. We have been to Cancun and love the place, plan to go there again.
Here comes your suggestion on Puerto Vallarta, which is beautiful. I feel it is boring to visit the same place again and again. it seems that the price of hotel is similar to that of Cancun. In Cancun it is generally coming with free food. I wish that the food and beverages are also free in hotels of PV.
I bookmarked your webpage and do some more research on my trips. I wish that I could persuade my wife to go PV so that we don’t need to go the same place.
It is kind of you sharing this useful information with us.
Anthony thank you for bookmarking the page for reference and happy travels to you and your wife 🙂
I’m quite interested with the Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio. It looks like a decent and nice place for honeymooners. Love the various hot tubs and designs of different rooms. The price looks reasonable with breakfast included plus near the airport. This may be my pick as it seems a good deal. Just checked the rooms are selling fast.
rmjia Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio is a fine choice, and yes especially for honeymooners. Very romantic rooms!
The Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio is simply amazing! If I have to choose between a boutique hotel and a 5-star hotel, I would only choose boutique hotels. I mean just look at that setup, with that decor and props, it’s like we’re living in an exquisite mansion like in one of those movies. That’s it, I’m sold, going there soon! 😀
Riaz Hotel Boutique Del Rio seems to be a popular choice! And for good reason 🙂
Hello,
This is a wonderful post and makes me want to book one of these hotels. I have been to Puerto Vallarta twice, and a friend of mine lives there. It’s a beautiful place. The colonial center is a true gem and the harbor and beaches are great for nice, romantic walks. The hotel prices you show are actually great, not too expensive, except for number 2 perhaps 😉 I really like the Grand Miramar, the photo of it, the feeling it evokes, it looks like the perfect place to escape. Hopefully, one day I get to visit Puerto Vallarta again.
Christine thank you for the comments! Grand Miramar is a fine choice. Hopfully you will get to visit one day again indeed 🙂
Mexico is one of my dream destinations. I cannot wait to experiment the beaches and the restaurants. If the tourist attractions are as seen on TV, then Mexico sounds like a dream vacation. That is some great history there on PVR. The locations all look and sound great. They have put so much detail in the interiors and general decor. I think the only thing that would help in easy decision making would be the price difference. Thank you for combining such a great list.
Carol you are welcome. Glad you liked the list and appreciated the price differences, as they will definitely help in making the best informed decisions. Happy travels out there!
Wow. All of these properties look stunning. I think the Zona Romantica looks like the best for me. Thank you for including some history of the area and additional information on what we can do. The water looks amazing. It’s funny that The Pancake House is one of the restaurants in a hotel. All the comforts of home. Really great info. Thank you.
Paula thank you so much for the comments! Zona Romantica has many fine restaurants and shops, so if you are a fan of the hustle and bustle when traveling then Luxury Penthouse Oceana would be perfect for you 🙂
Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant culture always fascinated me. Withnit’s sub tropical climate, it is very interesting to know and experience it’s beach life that differentiates it from many tourist beach attraction. I heard about its vine hung foothills and of course, the crystal blue waters but what I want to actually explore is its idyllic old town that could bring a nostalgic feeling to any visitor..
It seems that Garza Blanca Preserve offers a great accomodation. The view and the hotel itself is very ideal to spend a luxurious stay with your partner. It also looks very romantic on a sunset without taking away its old mexican vibe. Villa Armonia, however is well put up for a small family or group. I like the view that shows the little island on the side. Plus, its a good experience to share the public beach with the locals and get to know rhe island culture better. Thanks for sharing all these beautiful hotels of Puerto Vallarta!
Thank you for the comments MissusB! Great points about Garza Blanca Preserve and Villa Armonia
Puerto vallarta has always been a place of interest to me ever since I got to meet with my colleague in high school for his wedding there. It was really a lively place and just maybe if I can live the US after my working experience, I would retire to this place.you’ve listed some very great hotels with nice and breathtaking rooms with excellent and top notch service. All of these are immense and beautiful.
Thank you very much for the comments Shelley and happy travels out there 🙂
Traveling is cool, but having a great place to stay makes the whole circle complete. I have been much of a traveler in the past couple of months because its part of retirement plan and one thing I look out for is a good place to stay. Lookinh at the list of hotels you’ve given, I’ll love to stay at the Zona Romantica. I’m more of a person that doesn’t like too many people around so I’ll love to go with a 2bedrrom places. Nice being here.
Thank you Dane, Zona Romantica is a great choice!
Oh my, more beautiful places in Mexico?? I just learnt about the beauty that abides in the beautiful country and now I a m learning about the beauty of Puerto Vallarta. The hotels here are all just top notch and I think I need to visit one of this days. There’s really good scenery and I’m sure I’ll enjoy doing my photography tour around here. Thank you for putting this up. I’ll try it out. Cheers!
John thank you so much and best luck with your photography!
Wow! That’s really all there is to say. The hotels that you highlighted are absolutely beautiful. I also really appreciate that you showed not only the really expensive options, but also some more budget friendly ones as well. Zona Romantica looks amazing and has a good deal of attractions nearby. I should definitely look into these hotels in this area the next time I am looking to get away! Thanks!
You’re welcome Steve and thank you for stopping by!
Awesome post! I considered myself lucky to have stayed in many fine resorts. “Grand Miramar All Luxury Suites & Residences Peseo de los Corales 139” ranks up there with one of the best. The location, the accommodations, the restaurants, and also the food were all excellent and exceeded all my expectations. The staff made it so perfect. Greeting me by name everywhere was special. I highly recommend this wonderful resort. Thanks for the post actually, I will be adding another of this to my list soon, I’ve got eye on that “Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa”.
Regards!
Glad to hear you stayed in Grand Miramar Jordan and thank you for the insights!
Wow, I’m really impressed with the suggestions you have given here I must confess. I have heard some of my clients complain about having issues with finding a good hotel to stay when they travel to some places and it saddens me to hear of it most times. I have been on the search for some good hoteksin various cities and I have gotten quite a number of good oness, but I must admit these are amongst the best I have seen so far. I’ll recommend these hotels to any one traveling to Puerto Vallarta. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, Dane. Thanks for stopping by!
I work on cruise ships and have been to Puerto Vallarta once, I did promise myself that when I have the chance to return that I would spend more than a day next time to fully enjoy the beauty this place has to offer with a few buddies of mine, Grand Miramar looks absolutely amazing and I have to admit, the price blows my mind, sharing this residence with my buddies will it inexpensive and experience to remember. Take care!
I see that Mexico has a lot of luxury places. You describe everything in thiny detail. I never been In Mexico, but I was ridding about they beaches and I always watched interesting place to visit. I hope that one day, when this pandemic is over and if I have chance, that I will visit this side of planet.
